I feel like I have infants now and not newborns, could you please stop growing!
- My favorite milestone reached over the past two months is SMILING! When he smiles his two dimples are so prominent it melts our hearts. He is little harder to get a smile out of then sister, but boy are they worth it!!
- From the day we brought him home from the hospital he has been in love with his wub-a-nub pacifier) aka Monkey. Most preemies have a hard time sucking but not Miles, he can keep Monkey in your mouth through thick or thin. Around the one month mark he started keeping his hand on him while he was sucking on it. We are pretty sure he is going to end up taking it to kindergarten with him!
- Miles has transitioned to LOVING bath time! It was a rough go in the beginning but around the one month mark he decided a full body massage in a warm bath isn't so bad! Now we just have to work on the screaming when he gets taken out of it :)
- He has found his thumb! Keeping it in his mouth is another story but consistently from week 3 on when he is hungry his little thumb can find his mouth.
- He no longer fits in size preemie clothes and wears size newborn and some 0-3 months.
- He has peed on both mom and dad :)
- At five weeks he first rolled from his tummy to his back.
- He favors looking over his right shoulder. We are working on doing neck stretches with him to get him to look to his left more often. He has improved over the two months and we look forward to more improvement.
- Around a month he found his THUMB! He is working on how to keep it in there :)
- He started 'cooing' around 7 weeks old.
When we first left the hospital Miles was consistently drinking 2oz every 3 hours from a bottle. Poor baby boy Miles never got the 'boob' per say because they were too much of preemies to latch. He took breast milk from a bottle for 2 weeks until we transitioned to formula. We have tried a couple different formulas over the past two months- but the one that agrees best with Miles is the expensive stuff (of course) Similac Sensitive. Miles has been our spitter/burped from the beginning- a true boy! For the first month he was the most challenging one to feed because he would spit up through his nose which required a quick suctioning job to make everything better again. As of two months we only see formula come out the nose once a week or so- so yeah! His burping skills he got from his dad. Sometimes you don't even have to pat him just put him on your shoulder. At the end of two months he is eating 3oz every 3 hours- even during the night. Miles is very multi-talented in that he likes to toot and go to the bathroom as soon as he starts eating. He is very wiggly the WHOLE time he is eating because he has decided that is a good time to fill his britches :) Most of the time we just take a break let him finish, change his diaper and then continue with the feed. Miles is a much more casual eater compared to his sister- maybe that is why he is a little bit smaller. My favorite part of feeding him now is how he stares into my eyes the whole time. Baby boy Miles you melt my heart!
Sleeping:
Miles is my peaceful nighttime sleeper. We swaddle him up and lay him down and when he wakes 2-3 hours later for a feeding he hasn't moved an inch and he just looks like a content little angel laying there. After his nighttime feelings he is easy to put back down- can I hear a Hallelujah! Miles is a very special boy in that he has shared his nighttime feedings with Mimi, Grandma, Non, Anna, Em, Erica and of course Jeff and I. To keep the twins on the same schedule if one wakes for a feeding we wake the other one up for the feeding- poor Miles usually gets the raw end of the deal- because sister always wakes up first. They both are sleeping in a pack n play in our bedroom. There is no daytime nap schedule and he doses on and off through out the day but never for more than 20 minutes and it always tends to be when sister is awake :)
Playtime:
Miles' middle name is chill because that is his favorite thing to do! He can sit In his boppy for around 30 minutes just looking around and he is content (Praise The Lord because I am dealing with his screaming sister.) He really is happy no matter where you place him as long as you don't leave the room. At around one month we bought a toy that simulates being in a car seat and kinda jostles him around and I would say that is his favorite baby soother that we own- and boy do we have a lot! He loves to be talked to and will just sit there all day and stare at you with his beautiful blue eyes! His Mimi found that he likes watching baby apps on the Ipad- he is destined to be like his dad and drawn to the TV/computer! We also have a rainforest play mat that he has just started liking and we hope will grow to like even more! Truly he is happy with playtime anywhere!
