Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas 2014

This Christmas season was so magical with the Miles and Mallory at this age. We kept ourselves busy during the month of December with several holiday activities but I was only semi organized enough to document some of it :)

Something new for us was going to the lighting of the Christmas tree at the George Bush library. It started off as a formal happy hour in the library (which some how Jeff thought was a good idea) and then it transitioned to outside with caroling and the lighting of the tree. While Jeff was inside mingling during the happy hour I was outside chasing the rugrats around. Needless to say they left their 'mark' on the library by damaging some Christmas lights.... opps!

We also had our annual holiday tradition of getting M&M picture taken with Santa :) Mom was in Michigan so Dad was a superman and took him to pictures by himself.  I knew that was no ordinary task but after seeing the resulting picture I officially classified Jeff as a saint ;)

We continued our holiday tradition of purchasing gifts for children less fortunate by selecting 'angels' from a tree at Blue Baker. I had to work but Jeff took the kids shopping at they bought gifts for 2 'angels.' We hope they grow up to enjoy this tradition as much as we do :)

By far my favorite thing to do this holiday season with M&M was to look at Christmas lights. The joy and excitement on their face while looking at them was indescribable! One night we went out to Central Park and walked around and looked at all the Christmas lights- the kids had a blast! Almost every night in December we took an evening wagon ride down our street to look at the lights the neighbors had up and when we would get to the end of the street Miles would make the hand signal for 'more' and say 'more' because he wasn't done looking. Several nights we all loaded up into the car and drove around and looked a several different neighborhood lights which was fun- but a little more challenging since the babies carseats are still facing backwards. Next year maybe we will get up enough energy and enthusiasm to put lights on our house for them :)

Christmas Eve was pretty quiet but spent the day PLAYING hard with the babies all day :) That night we were determined to try Christmas Eve service at the church even though we knew childcare wasn't available.  So we dressed everyone up to weather the cold and went to Grace. We made it through one song and then spent the next 3 songs chasing the babies in the foyer and then decided it was in everyone's best interest if we left :( Well the night was young and on the way home we passed the store Ross (Jeff's favorite store!) He suggested we stop and just let the babies walk around aka let Dad look for a new pair of shoes for himself. It was pretty humorous because we were in their killing time while everyone else was panicking and doing their last minute Christmas shopping. Mom actually made it out with an awesome pair of tennis shoes that Dad picked out :) We then stopped at McDonalds for some ice cream only to pay and pull up to the pick up window to find out the machine was broken :( So to compensate they gave us 5 cookies and 5 apple pies haha! We got home gave Miles and Mallory baths and then put them in their Christmas pjs and put them to bed.

Christmas morning we packed up and drove to the Woodlands to see the Hodges side of the family. We were so glad we got to spend the morning with Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle Buck, Aunt Emmie, Aunt Eree, Kirby and Samson :) Boy did the babies have a great time exploring a new house with new animals :) First we did our annual 'Secret Santa' gift exchange and then the babies got to open up their present from Grandpa and Grandma Hodges. It was a train track for animals and they started playing with it like they invented the toy- it was precious!

We all then sat down and had a wonderful brunch that hit the spot- Mom and Dad actually got to enjoy it too because the babies were still busy playing with their new toy. We then did a Hodges favorite and walked to the park near by. It was a BEAUTIFUL day and the babies were over the moon excited at the chance to feed ducks. It was all the babies dreamed of plus more- family, ducks, playground and other peoples dogs!

Naptime quickly rolled around the babies started crashing. So we knew it was time to pack back up and head home. Luckily for us they slept almost the whole car ride home! When we got home EVERY neighbor kid on our street was outside so of course we played outside with everyone until it got dark.

The day after Christmas the Parker family stopped by the house and hung out with us for the evening. It was great to see the girls and they are so good with the twins. Gosh I wish they lived closer! It's still Christmas if you wear Christmas pjs right?
