We decided it was time for a trip to OKC and because they are quite dreadful in the car these days we decided to give flying a shot (especially while they were still under 2 and fly for free.) We flew out of College Station to Houston (20 min flight) then Houston to OKC (50 min flight.) The babies did great!! They were so excited about seeing airplanes, buses, elevators, trucks and more airplanes!!
We got their Tuesday night and went out to eat with Mimi and Non at a pizza place and then headed to their loft where the babies had an amazing time getting into all of the toys Mimi had.
Wednesday we got up and went to the zoo (always a personal favorite!) We met up with Aunt Penny, Uncle Steve and second cousin Brooks. The babies are so stubborn and refuse to sit in their stroller right now so we got quite a workout carrying them around and convincing them to walk in the right direction haha!
Thursday we explored downtown! We met cousin Lindsey and second cousin Ryder at the Myriad gardens park and then we walked over to have lunch with Papa Non at his work. We ate outside and the babies ran around and had a great time! After the babies' naps we started off at the river walk in downtown OKC. We stopped and fed the ducks, got ice cream from Sonic and got to see lots of cool resteraunts and places to shop. Then we headed over near the water and found a great park to play on! Right next to the park were several boathouses so we walked through those and then had a great time standing on the side of the water watching the rowers go by- "more boats" was the favorite term of the afternoon. That evening after Papa Non got home from work they opened up their Easter baskets and we went down stairs to have an Easter egg hunt because the babies enjoyed it so much this year. We also played with the chalk and bubbles they got in their basket- we had a great MESSY time!!
Friday we headed off the science museum. It was an amazing place to go for all ages and EVEN Jeff enjoyed himself :) Their was so much for the kids touch, play with and watch! They really enjoyed this room where you could make tracks for balls to slide down and then this huge tree house that they had! I am going to encourage them to be nerdy scientists whether Jeff likes it or not. That night we went out to dinner to a Mexican resteraunt with Papa Non and Mimi and it was one for the books as we had to leave with Mallory several times because she was throwing her infamous temper tantrums- little cute stinker! That evening they opened up their Easter baskets and we went down stairs to have an Easter egg hunt because the babies enjoyed it so much this year. We also played with the chalk and bubbles they got in their basket- we had a great MESSY time!!
Saturday we packed up and drive 2 hours to Ponca City to visit great Mema and lots of other members of the Frick family. We were SO lucky that our trip overlapped with the belated annual Easter picnic so we got to see tons of family. It was great food, fun and family! Afterwards we headed back to Great Mema's house for some more hangout time with just her and it was so special!
Sunday we woke up to Miles having a terrible fever :(. He had just finished up a round of antibiotics for his first ever ear infection so my mommy brain told me that the infection had probably come back. So we headed to urgent care and 4 painful hours later had a diagnosis of an ear infection and a new antibiotic. My poor Miles was miserable :(
Monday morning we loaded up with a still pretty sick kiddo and headed home. We had a great time and look forward to when we will get to visit again!
Some of our favorite memories weren't in our schedule... they were just evening times hanging out :)
