Michigan Round 2

It had been a year since we had seen the Michigan peeps- so we were over due for a trip!

We flew out of Houston on Saturday for price reasons but boy did it make for a LONG day of travel! The kids were rock stars though! They LOVE the airport, airplanes, buses, big cars, and more airplanes but they LOVE them so much they didn't sleep at all on the plane! They had their own seats on this flight which made the flight much more roomy :) They each had a little lunch box/suitcase that they carried with them- and boy did they think they were grown up! When we got to Detroit we had the fiasco of putting car seats in the rental car and finally made it to Grosse Pointe around 8:30 (a good 10 hours of traveling.) They kids were hanging on by a thread they were so tired but we had to stop to get something to eat because Jeff and I hadn't eaten all day. We stopped at Boston Market and they both had meltdowns like I had never seen before. I then heard the lady sitting behind us say "And that is why I don't have kids...." WOW lady give us a break we had a long day! It was so great to finally get to Grandma's house set up their beds and wind down.

Sunday we slept in late (after a rough night of sleeping with the babies) and hung out in the morning at Grandma's house as it rained. The babies took a late nap- as we all adjusted to Michigan schedule and then lots of Hodges family came over for dinner! It was great- we had Grandma, Aunt Kathy, Aunt Betsy, Uncle John, Elliot, Charlie, Uncle Peter, Aunt Sherri and Mrs. Burwell!

Monday we slept in again and then headed to check out Grosse Pointe Farms park. It was SO much fun and brought back such great memories! The babies got to play on the beach, playground and watch all of the boats leaving the marina. They LOVED it and loved playing outside in the non-Texas heat :) We headed back to Grandma H's house for nap time and then packed up and headed to Grandma Z's house. We had pizza and lots of good laughs! We had Grandma, Aunt Lynn, Anna, Michael, Erin, and Ricky. The babies put on quite a show for everyone :)

Tuesday slept in again (time change and not sleeping babies were not a good match) and then headed to the Detroit Zoo. It was quite a production to get us all there but it was fun! We rode the train which the kids LOVED and I LOVED that Grandma got to see their excitment! We didn't stay long because it quickly became the kiddos nap time- but it was still long enough to make some good memories :) After babies nap time we headed back to Grosse Pointe Farms park this time with our swimsuits on. We swam, played on the splash pad and played some more on the beach. That night we headed back to Grandma H's and Jenny & Mike came to visit us. It was a great night of food, family and fellowship!

Wednesday we woke up early and headed to the airport only to find out our plane got delayed for 2 hours! Boo! Another long day of traveling but we made it home safe and sound and the kids again were rockstars on the plane :) Who knew that two people that are such bag flyers could produce two kids that are such great flyers!

Farwell pic :(

I LOVE my grandma!
