It was a Wednesday morning at 6:45 at Jeff leaned over me in the bed and said "Sorry to wake you up- but did you order some chickens?" The post office called us to let us know that our baby chickens had been delivered and they look like they needed some water. So Jeff got dressed and headed to the post office to pick up 'surprise delivery.' He came home and said that they were a 'Present' from Anna and they were actually 2 baby ducks! What the heck are we suppose to do with two baby ducks was my initial thought?!?! So we read the 1 sheet of paper that came with the ducks and started making them a little home. Jeff went to the feed store and bought a heat lamp, some duck food, and some shavings for their home. We dumped out a rubbermaid bin we had and set them up. They were sent with little birth certificates that said they hatched the day before and had been shipped from Wisconsin!
We asked them what they wanted to name them and of course the answer was "Pink" and "Green." The kids LOVED the thought of their ducks but did not want me to take them out of their cage, pet them or hold them! In fact they screamed at the top of their lungs any time I tried to pet the ducks. So we kept them for a week and they started out growing their rubbermaid bin and we were able to have them out because the kids were terrified of them. So we found them a home with people who already had ducks and now they have 4 older sister ducks. We plan trips to go visit the ducks on a regular basis :) The twins still thank God for their ducks every night in their prayers :)
