Hodges Galveston Trip

The Hodges family decided to go on a trip this summer to celebrate Grandpa Hodges' retirement!

We found a great house that was in west Galveston and we all had a great time!!!!!

We checked in Friday night and had pizza and swam in the 'cocktail pool.' It was the perfect size for the kids because they could touch everywhere in the pool and it was heated (for my poor cold blooded Miles.) One of the kids favorite parts of the trip was the bunkbeds in their room. Miles claimed the top bunk and rocked it like a champ. Mallory made the lower bed her own by decorating it with all of her own pillows, baby dolls and blankets. How does she know how to make a bed when her mama doesn't even make a bed? We rented a golf cart which we took for spin Friday night around the neighborhood and the kids loved that!

Saturday we went to the beach and the kids LOVED it! Completely different response than 2 years ago when we took them. You couldn't keep Miles out of the ocean- he LOVED the big waves! When he wasn't in the water he was collecting sea shells- and boy did he have a full bucket! Mallory who doesn't normally care for the 'heat' enjoyed the beach because it was cooler with the breeze. Her favorite was building sand castles but she also got in the water- as long as Grandma Hodges was the one that took her. We went back and spent the rest of the day in the backyard with the pool and dock to fish off of. Daddy and Miles also got adventurous and took out the paddle board, the kayak and a small row boat. Miles soaked up EVERY minute of it- he was SO brave!!! Mallory wasn't interested in if Grandma Hodges wasn't going :)

Sunday we had a little bit of rain in the morning but it was good because the kiddos needed to have some downtime inside because they had been going non-stop ever since we had gotten there. That afternoon we played more in the pool and then we all got cleaned up and went out to dinner at the neighborhood marina. Sweet little Miles had so much fun during the weekend he fell asleep in my lap at dinner- which has NEVER happened!

We had a great time and made great memories!!! Hope to make it an annual tradition :)
