I LOVE the beach- so I consider it a necessitiy to make a trip there at least every 6 months. So we drove down on a Thursday after the kids got out of school and our first stop was the Moody Gardens Aquarium! It was phenomenal and the kids really got into it- not to mention we had the whole place to ourselves! Miles was super excited to see the penguins since that is what he was going to be for Halloween :) After the aquarium we went and ate a cute restaurant on the beach and then we took family pictures (see Beach Pictures post.) We didn't get to our VRBO till after dark so of course that meant it was time to go look for crabs on the beach! There were millions of them!
The next morning we got up early and went and played on the neighbor hood playground right across from our VRBO. It is a great playground and I think we played hide and go seek for at least an hour. Then it was time to hit the beach! We all of course had a great time playing in the sand. The kids loved writing all their letters they know in the sand. Miles was like a fish in the water and little Miss Mallory wanted nothing to do with the water. We also flew a kite which is a huge hit with the kids! After a couple hours on the beach we found a place to play miniture golf. Miles was a HUGE fan!!! He is just like his daddy in that he is competitive and loves all things sports!! Mallory wanted to just carry around the club and cheer for Dad and Miles :) After that we went back to the VRBO for some down time which of course meant more time on the playground! It rained for a bit so they rested and watched their ipads- but as soon as it stopped we got the fishing stuff together and went fishing. We didn't catch anything but they sure are good at casting their reels! That evening we walked to a resteraunt in the neighborhood and had some great seafood while the kids ate french fries. The perfect day ended with more crab hunting on the beach at night!
The next morning we woke up to rain :( So we packed up and decided to get on the road and go on our quest to buy hermit crabs (see hermit crab post.) While we were driving along the sea wall we saw a HUGE pier and decided to pull over and go walk about on it. It was awesome watching all the people fishing and while we were out there we saw dolphins jumping out of the water- it was amazing! The kids LOVED it! Then we stopped to get the newest members of the Mazzolini crew and headed back to College Station. We love you beach and we will be back soon!
