This spring Miles decided he wanted to give T-ball a try! We signed him up and had NO idea what to expect. I got an email saying they needed assistant coaches so Jeff volunteered which I thought would be great for Miles to have a face he knew out in the field :)
We got assigned to Team Braves and started practices in February. We went as a whole family to all the practices and games so we could watch and cheer him on! Most of the boys had played the year before but Miles slide right in like he knew exactly what was going on. Practices were 2 nights a week (which was a little more than all of us had bargained for!) He looked so excited and proud to be out there. His first game was April 2nd and it was the best birthday present I could have asked for to watch him play! Once the season started they didn't have anymore practices and then had 2 games a week. We apparently had missed out on 'official t-ball' last year so this year was coach pitch followed by using the tee if they didn't hit the first 5 pitches. I can count on one hand the amount of times he had to use a tee- this little boy has some amazing hand eye coordination!!! Every game you could tell he was understanding the game more and more. His favorite positions to play in outfield was first base and standing next to the pitcher because those are the spots that got all the action. About 3 weeks into the season he said he didn't want to play anymore and we couldn't figure out why. So we told him he was part of a team and that even if he didn't want to play he needed to come out and watch them play. So we stopped at Sonic on the way there to make sure he was in an extra good mood and sure enough by the time he sat and watched one inning he was ready to change into his uniform and play! My FAVORITE part of everything was how he would look over to me any time after he had done something good and give me a thumbs up- it melted my heart every time! He would have the biggest smile on his face after he hit a ball or ran around the bases!! It seriously was cuteness overload! We are SO proud of him for trying something new especially when he didn't know anybody!
First Practice!
