Costa Rica- Day 1

Jeff and I took a trip to Costa Rica to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary, 10 year dating anniversary, and to take our first "vacation" since our honeymoon! I did a lot of research on the internet and decided that Costa Rica was the best vacation for a "Jungle" experience!

We left early Friday morning and had an eventful plane ride to say the least. The pilot had come on and said we were going to land in about 20 minutes. 45 minutes later he came on again and said that we had circled the airport several times because there was a problem with our landing gear. He said no big deal, just to expect a lot of fire trucks on the ground when we land. I wasn't panicking until the stewardess started barking orders at the people seated in the exit row behind us. She was showing them how to open the door and let out the slide! We landed fine and everyone on the plane cheered! There were plenty of 'green' fire trucks that followed us and we were not allowed to pull up to the airport. We had to walk off the plane and take buses to the terminal.

After retrieving our luggage we were met by our rental car company. We jumped in a car with him (after the fact thinking not such a good idea because it was not labeled) and was immediately pulled over by police. We had no idea what was going on, because neither of us speak a lick of Spanish. We finally made it to our rental car place to pick our 'beast' of a Mitusbishi Lancer that treated us well during the trip.

Next hurdle was to find the hotel. Long story short Jeff and I should NEVER go on Amazing Race together! It was the cutest hotel and had such a warm cozy feeling about it!

We ate an early dinner at the hotel at a precious restaurant! I branched out and tried some chicken and couscous thing.

We then went and walked around downtown San Jose and got ice cream! Realizing again that we desperately need to learn some sort of Spanish!

Went to bed early reading Costa Rica tour books. We were excited to head to our villa the next day!
