OOOOklahoma....M&M first road trip

Jeff's grandpa had not been feeling very well and we thought a visit from his great grandchildren might cheer him up. So we decided to make the trip to OKC- did I mention with 4 month old twin babies in tow?? We had never taken them anywhere further than the doctors office in the car so we knew this was going to be an adventure!

Jeff and I stayed up late Wednesday night after my first day back to work to pack EVERYTHING in our house that was baby related. You should have seen our mini van- there were diapers, bottles and burp clothes everywhere! We decided to try to leave after their second feeding of the night so that they would hopeefully sleep through some of the trip. With everyone still in pjs we pulled out of our driveway around 5:30 and prayed for safety and patience on this road trip. I sat in the back with them to help keep them entertained, fed and happy :) They were rockstars!! We pulled over after 3 hours to burp them after a feeding at a gas station and got them out to stretch, walk around and change diapers. (FYI We had to stop an additional 2 times not related to the babies because he has a tiny bladder, not kidding) Around another 2 hours later we started having major meltdowns and I told Jeff we needed to pull over ASAP to get them out to stretch. Jeff decided Winstar casino would be a good place to take 4 month old twins, oh dear! Jeff strapped Miles into the front carrier and I put Mallory on my hip and we checked out the casino at about 1:00pm on a Thursday- needless to say the client tell was pretty funny! We only walked around in the casino for maybe a minute because I was concerned it smelled like smoke. So the casino was attached to a hotel we walked around for a while to give everyone a change of scenery. I think we finally made it to Mimi and Papa Non's house around 3:00pm that afternoon. It was a 9.5 hour trip but the babies did wonderful!!

Little did she know she was about to have to sit like that for a VERY long time

Sweet sweet baby boy!

Hard to tell what this picture is- but it is us parked at the gas station and Mallory chilling on the floor with her head propped up on a roll  of paper towels.

Thursday night we spent a majority of the time unpacking Babies R us out of of car and setting it up in Mimi's house. Papa had a long day at the hospital so we decided we would go see him Friday and let him rest Thursday night. We relaxed around the house the rest of Thursday and let Mimi and Papa Non love all over the babies!

The babies shared a pack n play at Mimi's house- absolute angels!!

However before we set up the pack n play we made good use of Mimi's couch

Love Love Love!!

She is not thrilled with the book and wondering where the TV is

Cutest picture ever!

Friday we got up and went and visited Papa Non at work. The devon tower had not been completed the last time we were there so we were anxious to see it and of course show our babies off to Papa Non's coworkers :) They did great and we got to eat a yummy lunch in the devon tower. Then Bub, baby Mark and Anna got there! (Anna had just flown in from Australia and we have missed her SO much!) That afternoon Jeff's Aunt Cindy, Helena, cousin Lindsey and her new baby Ryder all came over to visit. It was great to hug on all of them and catch up. That evening we loaded up two cars of the Mazzolini crew and made it to Mercy hospital (the same hospital Jeff was born in) to visit Mema and Papa. For those of you that don't know- Mimi is one of 7 kids- and a good majority of them, and their kids and their kids were in the waiting room. It was GREAT to see everyone! It looked a little like the nursery floor because there were 4 babies all under 4 months of age. We all sat out in the waiting room visiting while we all took turns going into see Mema and Papa. It was such a special moment when we finally got to see them. I believe Mallory is their 19th great grandchild and Miles is their 20th. We got to visit and the babies were on their best behavior! Papa is a baby lover and you can tell it really helped brighten his day.

Love family time

Great Grand Mema loved her great grandbabies!

4 generations

That night Mimi and Non had a HUGE surprise for us! They had booked us a room at a hotel downtown and they were going to watch the babies for us. It was wonderful and I slept like a log! The babies were also on their best behavior and only got up twice. We had breakfast as a family and then packed up the car for the long drive back.
Just chillin in bed

They LOVE their Aunt Anna

Packing up the Swagger-Waggon

They were wonderful again on the way home! This time I was the hold up on the way home because I didn't feel well from sitting in the back seat with the babies. So we pulled over at a shopping center in Dallas and walked around for an hour or so. We then strapped them back in and I attempted to sit in he front seatwhich didn't last very long- but we tried :) We only made one other stop at Bucky's to let them stretch and we got home around 8 that night. I think that trip took us closer to 10 hours but we DID it! We were pooped and had a lot of unpacking and laundry to do when we got home.

We had such a memory filled trip visiting with family in OKC and look forward to our next trip back :)
