Mazz Madness!: Mallory- Month 5

Milestones:

• This girl can't stop SMILING (except when we take her picture) She will be sleeping and crack her eyes open and as soon as she makes eye contact she smiles. She smiles while she takes her bottle too! She is my little 'Cover Girl'

• Celebrated her first Halloween (see Halloween post)

• Mallory went out to her first restaurant (another post to follow)

• She rolled from her back to her stomach!! Big Girl!!

• Mallory had her first slumber party- Addison Savarino stayed the night :)

• She stands! When you place weight on her legs she locks her legs out and stands flat footed :)

• She is wearing size 2 diapers

• Mallory has graduated on to 3-6 month clothes

• My favorite milestone for the month- She reaches for things!!! It is precious!!!

• Have I mentioned she can't stop SMILING???? :) :) :)

• She makes the funniest noise with her mouth sucking in and out her bottom lip

Eating:
Mallory is eating around 3-4 oz every 3 hours. She chugs her bottles like there is no tomorrow. She is so funny when she is done with her botttle (whether there is formula left or not) she spits the bottle out and will not under any circumstance let you put it back in her mouth. Only once or twice a day do we get a burp out of her. Unlike her brother when Mallory eats she is very relaxed and just goes with the flow. She is a joy to feed- well she is a JOY all the time :) We also stopped her reflux medication and have had no problems- yeah!! We tried giving her rice cereal twice and she spit it out- there is no telling this girl what to do if she doesn't want to.

Sleeping:
This month felt like we took ten steps back with Mallory when it came to sleeping. We took her boppy out of her crib so that she would lay flat on the mattress and she is NOT a fan. We have to go in her room at least once an hour to put her pacifier back in. I have an amazing husband who does not complain about night duty at all. The nights before I go to work he has night duty by himself. Several mornings I have walked into both babies in bed with him because they wouldn't stop crying otherwise. We still swaddle her but leave her arms out. Once she figured out how to roll over she started rolling over in her crib but they waking up and crying once she got on her stomach. We are thinking we might have to let her cry it out a couple times- but we just can't seem to do that yet. The plus side is is that she is a NAPPER! Granted the naps are in her swing and not in her crib- but I will take anything I can get! If I am lucky she will take one 2 hour nap during the day and several other cat naps. Here is to next month being a better sleeping month!

Playtime:
Watching Mallory reach for toys just fills my heart with so much love! She also has started reaching for her lovey and will rub it in between her hands while she is trying to fall asleep. Not very many things make her laugh- and usually she will only laugh for her dad. She can be tickled or lifted up like an airplane :) Occasionally I can get a laugh out of her when I sing "I Like Big Butts" (like the episode of Friends) For a couple weeks she made the sweetest noise when she sucked in her bottom lip repeatedly. I would lay her back down in the middle of the night after a feeding and she would put herself back to sleep just making the noise for at least 15 minutes. She is QUITE talented! She rolled over for the first time Nov 5th. She hasn't done it again since writing this post, but she was SO proud of herself. She still enjoys the exersaucer and really can be put anywhere as long as she can see you. She truly LOVES her life these days and that overflows me with JOY!
