Miles- Month 9

Milestones:

• Is an official roller! Not just on accident but a REAL roll! (makes impossible to change his diaper now)

• Miles cracks up when he watches other little kids!

• Still wearing size 2 diapers

• Celebrated with his daddy for his 32nd birthday

• Miles can stand up holding on to something

• He celebrated his first Valentines's Day (See Valentine's Day post)

• Miles and Mallory took their first big kid bath!

Eating:

Miles is your 'typical' boy that eats like a machine! He still doesn't eat anymore formula- but is consistently taking 3-4 oz of formula every 3 hours. When we feed the we usually prop our knees up and feed one on our lap and one in a boppy next to us. As soon as you lay him in your lap with his head on your knees he opens his mouth like a little bird because he knows what is coming! He is also your 'typical' boy now in that you don't have to pat his back he burps like a champ on his own! I see lots of burp contests in my near future. Miles is an abosolute hoot when it comes to baby food/adult food. He LOVES anything smooth and purred. This little man can clear 1 and 1/2 containers of baby food at each sitting and grunts VERY loud if you don't put the spoon back in his mouth quick enough :) However when it comes to anything with texture or that he might have to chew/gum- no way jose! Puffs, yogurt bites, teething biscuits all get thrown on the floor. Well, now that I am thinking about it maybe he just likes throwing things more than eating them :) We have found that he LOVES ice cream and snow cones. What a little stinker! We tell him everyday he has to eat like a big boy to get strong like daddy!

Sleeping:

Miles has been my little stinker this month when it comes to sleeping at night. He is lucky he is SO darn cute! He has been waking up ALOT in the middle of the night.  . They truly have switched places because I think she would be sleeping through the night if he didn't wake her up. I never want to forget his precious little temper when he wakes up to get fed. He SCREAMS with his eyes shut the whole time he is on the changing tablet bucking his legs like a mad horse. I then hurry and place him in a bouncer a prop a bottle in his mouth so I can start the routine with sister in a little more relaxing atmosphere. He is also my early riser! I can always count on him to wake up between 6:30 and 7:00. He doesn't want to be brought into mom and dads bed to snuggle either- he wants to play! Really I think he has just figured out that he can get one on one time in the morning with his mom :) However this past month they have both been going to bed much earlier between 7:45 and 8:30- which has opened up a whole new world for Jeff and I. We can actually relax for about an hour before we go to bed. He doesn't want to be brought into mom and dads bed to snuggle either- he wants to play! Nap time hasn't changed with him either. He is pretty consistent about taking a 30-45 minute nap around 11:00 and then maybe and I repeat MAYBE a 30 minute nap at 2. Most of the time in the afternoon I can lay her down for nap and have to rock him for a while. I know the 'books' say I should lay him down and let him cry himself to sleep but snuggling and rocking him to sleep is SO much more special!

Playtime:

Miles is FULL of energy ALL the time! He also NEVER stops MOVING! I LOVE little boys! I hold him in my lap facing me all the time just so I can stare at his precious little face and he looks everywhere but at me- he has to always be looking around. His playtime is getting more and more fun and interactive everyday! He loves that he can get from one place to another by rolling- but he doesn't not like to stop on his belly for any amount of time! He twists and turns now while you change his diaper and wants to hold a toy the whole time he is being changed. This little man can spot an electronic device (Iphone or TV remote) from a mile away and he will do whatever it takes to get it in his mouth. He loves that he has teeth and can clink them on hard things :) He is really good at grabbing at things as well. What started as him just grabbing for his paci or his sisters toys and evolved onto him grabbing for everything- including our faces and the cat and dog! He really loves his exersaucer and bouncer. He is great at entertaining himself in them. The bouncer is what he burns serious calories on as he can get serious air! He is very active with his feet and is always pushing toys back and forth with them. I can see a little soccer star in our future. He also has a little toy that he can push when he is standing up and we call it his lawn mower. He doesn't move his feet but he pushes it back and forth. He cracks up the whole time he does it because he is SO proud of himself. This little boy LOVES to laugh and he has a sweet sweet belly laugh. He has a favorite book that he cracks up everytime you life up the flaps in the book- "Where is Baby's Belly Button?" He is getting much more tolerant of the wind- so we can go on walks more often which is great! Every night when he gets out of the bath I sing to him "Ain't no mountain high enough, ain't no valley low enough, ain't no river wide enough to keep me from getting to you babe!"
