First Semester of Gymnastics!!!!

8/26 First Gymnastics Class
We signed the nuggets up for a gymnastics class at PowerSports for the fall and it has been a learning/growing experience for them and mom. The first week they had to be pried from my arms and they screamed the whole time "Mommy" as someone had to hold them- that continued for the whole 45 minute class :( Mom paced back up and down in the parent viewing area and couldn't show face in the windows for fear the twins would see me and cry harder (if that was possible.) They had to put an extra teacher in the class so that 1 person could devote all of their attention to trying to make Miles & Mallory happy.

9/2 Second Gymnastics Class
Their best friends Ada and Grady are enrolled in another class so before our second class I took them to go watch Ada and Grady so they could see how 'cool' it was. They seemed intrigued watching them :) The whole car ride to gymnastics we talked about what they were going to do and talked about ALL  the candy they would get if they didn't cry :) Well they had to be torn from my arms again however Mallory only cried for a couple minutes- success! Miles cried for maybe 10 minutes but then calmed down too- double success!! They didn't participate but I was OK with that as long as they weren't crying :) And they always got a stamp at the end of class which was their FAVORITE part and they talked about it the whole car ride home.

9/9 Third Gymnastics Class
When the teacher came up to get them they both willing walked to her to go into the gym- my jaw DROPPED!!! They both participated the WHOLE time and they both had HUGE smiles on their faces!!!! There are 3 other little girls in their class and all of them are at least 6-9 months older than M&M and at least 1 foot taller! Mallory's favorite thing to do is jump on the trampoline and Miles favorite thing is swinging from the bars or walking on the balance beam. When they aren't actively on a piece of equipment they are instructed to sit on a carpet square and they are awesome at that! Then they carry their carpet squares around from station to station which is one of my favorite parts because the carpet squares are almost as big as they are!

9/16 Fourth Gymnastics Class
Mallory is just like her mommy and sits and studies the teacher as she is explaining what to do. Miles is just like his daddy and he is easily distracted and squirmy when the teacher is talking. Mallory then continues to follow all of the teachers directions to a T and Miles picks and chooses what he wants to do. Such a boy and such a girl!

9/23 Fifth Gymanstics Class
They didn't even ask for candy after the class because they had such a great time! This class was funny though because the week before I had painted Mallory's toenails and Miles instisted I do his as well which of course wasn't a big deal. Well I didn't think about them having to be bare foot at gymnastics hahahaha everyone got to see his blue toenails :)
9/30- 11/11 They are LOVING gymnastics class!! Each class consists of them being in a different part of the gym for 20 minutes and they rotate the 3 different parts of the gym. At each spot they have several things set up for them to do: hang on rings, kick a ball into net, jump on trampoline, do a sommersault, climb over blocks

11/18 Game Changer Gymnastics Class
We walked in late to the class and they had also gotten rid of the carpet squares. Something about the combination of that Miles did NOT like. He wouldn't go into the gym he just screamed he wanted to be with mommy. I didn't know what was wrong so I let him hang out with me in the viewing area.

11/25- 12/16
Every class after that for the next 4 weeks he would tell me at home he wanted to 'watch Mal Mal' but not do gymnastics. I never forced him to go down with the teacher but I would go down there with him and try to get him excited but it never worked. Surprisingly Mallory could care less that brother wasn't down there and continued to do her gymnastics with the same enthusiasm. One week I had the instructor just take him down there hoping he would stop crying but he never did :( We don't know what happened in that little head of his but I dropped him from the class to let us both have a break. So Mallory will continue to do it in the spring and Miles and I will enjoy our Miles & Mommy time in the viewing area ;)
