Mallory- Month 1 and 2

Well as a new mother of twins month 1 and 2 are a blur- so sorry to say they get grouped in one posting and one twins is several days later than the others :)

Milestones:
I feel like I have infants now and not newborns, could you please stop growing!
  • My favorite milestone reached over the past two months is SMILING! When she is happy she smiles all the time and I swear her whole face smiles!
  • Mallory is incredibly strong! She has been holding her head up well since day one. She can roll from her tummy to her back with no problem
  • She loves her bath time. If I could put a tub in our living room and keep her in it all day I would! However get a pair of ear plugs ready when you take her out of the tub, because she is not happy.
  • She has found her thumb, but only puts in in there when she is really hungry.
  • She no longer fits in size preemie clothes and wears size newborn and some 0-3 months.
  • She has been put on Zantac for her reflux :(
Eating:
When we first left the hospital Mallory was consistently drinking 2oz every 3 hours from a bottle. She started having signs of reflux around 3 weeks. Anytime you would put the bottle in her mouth she would pull back and arch her back because it hurt :( She never has been a big spitter upper so we weren't sure if she was just a wiggly eater or in fact she had reflux. The Zantac we prescribed at the two month check up- I will let ya know in next months posting how it goes (everyone say a prayer!) At the end of two months she is eating 3oz every 3 hours- even during the night. She tends to eat more than brother and we justify it to the fact that she wiggles ALL day. She can be a little challenging to get burps out of because of course she is a lady :) Whoever feeds her has to be warned that she is a BIG dribbler. So get your burp cloth ready and tuck it under her chin nice and tight! She also insists on helping you find her mouth so 99% of the time her hands are in her mouth (in the way) showing you where she would like the bottle to go :) You can tell this girl likes to eat because her cheeks jiggle when you burp her- I love it!!!

Sleeping:
Mallory is a wiggly sleeper just like she is wiggly during the day. We swaddle her up and lay her down and when she wakes 2-3 hours later for a feeding she has usually made a complete circle in her crib and has managed to escape both of her arms from thee swaddle! I am telling you this girl never stops moving! We are on our second attempt to have her sleep I her crib. Mom is too light of sleeper and wasn't getting to sleep with all the noises sister makes while she sleeps. When I say noises I mean she makes a full on orchestra of noises- she grunts, she moans, she snorts, she whimpers, she sneezes,  she cries, she hollers and she snores!  I had a little bit of a complex about booting them out of my room so early because they are so tiny- but it had to be done for my sanity. We ended up buying a monitor that tells us if she stops breathing so I don't feel so bad about them being in another room than me. After her nighttime feelings she is easy to put back down for the most part but she definitely  has her nights that only rocking will put her back down. Mal is a very special girl in that she has shared her nighttime feedings with Mimi, Grandma, Em, Erica, Non, Anna and of course Jeff and I. To keep the twins on the same schedule if one wakes for a feeding we wake the other one up for the feeding- and Mallory is the one who does the waking 90% of the time. There is no daytime nap schedule and you dose on and off through out the day but never for more than 20 minutes and it always tends to be when brother is awake :) Mallory does give us a pretty good hint of when she is in dream land because she holds her arms up over her head- we think she is going to be in the church choir :) When sister is sleeping is about the only time during the day that you can hear yourself think- but we love that she has so much attitude :)

Playtime:
Mallory is not easily entertained to say the least. Bless her little heart she cries A LOT, so the only times she isn't crying she is eating or taking a 5 minute cat nap.  We are trying to figure out if she has colic and/or reflux. So it is more like what she likes for 'soothing' time instead of 'playtime'. She is our little kangaroo because she LOVES to be carried around in a sling and our baby bjorn backpack. We have found you can do quite a few things with her in it such as dishes, laundry, watering the plants even going to the bathroom! She also LOVES being outside in the 100 degree heat. It is seriously magic that before you have both your feet outside she has stopped crying- but don't worry as soon as you put both feet back into the air conditioning she finds her lungs again :) It breaks our heart to see her always cry but it means we just get to snuggle and love on her that much more!

Big girl tries to talk a lot!

Aunt Anna made her the cutest headband- she even thought so as she smiled in her sleep

She is like her mama and really happy when she sleeps!

The place she enjoys the most- close to your heart  :)

When daddy gets home from work he straps this on and carries you in it most of the evening!

Your daddy can't get enough sugars from you!

Here goes mom again thinking these black cat hats are cute!

When I am content (which isn't very often) I am HAPPY!

We have prayed for this little girl more than she will ever know!

She is very expressive with her face :)

Her favorite sleeping position- and when we know she is out cold

Look at how tiny she was!!

This cracks us up!

Happy as a lark when you are outside on a rocker

Seriously the sweetest thing ever!!!
