Mallory- Month 6

Milestones:

• Started eating solid foods!

• First trip to the Woodlands and Dallas

• Celebrated her first Thanksgiving (see Thanksgiving post)

• She got her first bad cold virus and her first tummy bug

• She puts EVERYTHING in her mouth :)

• Gets cuter EVERY single day- not sure how it is humanly possible but she does!!

Eating:
Mallory is still eating around 3-4 oz every 3 hours. She still seems to tolerate the Similac Sensitive brand formula the best so this girl still gets the expensive stuff :) But boy does she deserve it!  She is still undecided about 'real' food. For some unknown reason we decided peaches were the first thing they should try (maybe because it sounded the most appetizing to us!) We shoveled a little bit into her mouth and it sent a shiver down her whole little body. We have quickly learned that this little girls is a sweet as sugar but she does not like sweet things in her mouth! A couple days later we tried peas and after a couple gags she started catching on to opening up her mouth when the spoon got near! When we were in Dallas for Thankskgiving she tried bananas (did not like) and green beans (liked). After our Thanksgiving travels she got a REALLY bad tummy bug that lasted for a week and so we held off on solid foods until her tummy felt better.

Sleeping:
Consistency with sleeping is not in the babies vocabulary- but cheers to one night they BOTH went 9.5 hours! It was a miracle as they had never gone longer than 4 hours before! We have found that we have to lay her next to the side of the crib to keep her from rolling over and scaring herself. She use to be a rockstar at going back down the sleep after middle of the night feedings but this past month has decided it is time to chit chat which then wakes her brother up! But you can't get frustrated at 2 in the morning when you hear her precious little coo noises. She is usually pretty good about squeezing a nap in between every feeding. It usually does not last for more than 20 minutes. She gives all the 'cues' of when she is tired and can fall asleep just about any where.

Playtime:
Mallory would stand all day on my lap talking to me if we didn't have another kiddo to take of :) She has started really enjoying her exersaucer and bouncer because she reaches for the toys that are on the tray. She definetly likes to be part of the action no matter what it is- watching me wash bottles, watching me fold laundry or even watching me rock her brother. We are trying to get more tummy time in but it is hard for me to torture her when she makes these pitiful faces. She likes to get bundled up and go on walks or sometimes we just take walks in her stroller around the living room. You can always get her attention or an extra big smile by singing to her. Her favorite songs are "Row Row Your Boat", "The ABC's" and my her and personal favorite "How Funky is Your Chicken!" I can't emphasize again how much of a ray of SUNSHINE she is! She is truly smiling all the time and it melts my heart 24 hours a day.

Million dollar smile!

She rather sit up then lay down because that is what big girls do :)
