-First we tried putting them back in either yelling, spanking or pleading them to stay in but that didn't work.
-Second we moved their cribs into the same room but that didn't work either.
-Third we took the front rails off of the cribs and called it their BIG KID beds and they were excited for 10 minutes but then the night meant them getting out to come in our room again.
-Forth we made a pallet for Jeff or I in their room to sleep on the floor hoping that would keep them in their bed- it didn't they would just lay down next to us on the pallet on the floor.
-Fifth we took them to the toy store and let them pick out whatever toy that wanted and they would be able to open in the morning if they slept in their BIG KID bed all night- well the two toys are sitting on the dresser in their rooms unopened after 3 months.
-Sixth we gave up on them actually staying in their room so we blew up an aerobed on the floor in our room- they were not interested in laying there.
-Seventh we bought toddler cots and placed one next to each side of Jeff and I in our master bedroom and told them when they came in our room in the middle of the night to go lay there- this works umm..... 25% of the time. Most of the time they still try to get in bed with us and we have to direct them to their cots with and without them fighting us about it. Other times Miles just yells out that he wants me to drop my hand next to the bed so he can hold it while he is sleeping- I can't tell him no!
- Eighth we bought them a fish tank for their room and we told them the fishies would get lonely if they left- well that didn't work either- but check on the post later on the fish tank.
So morale of the story is let your kid stay in their crib as long as you can because no one tells you how hard it is the get them to stay in their bed. We are on 3 months and still not sleeping! I will post an amazing update if and when we ever get them to stay in their beds!
