We have never both left the kids for an evening but decided if we were ever going to do it- this was the time! Mimi & Non graciously came into town to watch them for 3 days and 2 nights :)
After LOTS and LOTS of research (on Liz's end) we decided to try out Travassa in Austin. We picked it because 1) It was 2 hour drive from our house 2) It is a really nice place that we would normally never treat ourselves too and 3) It is an adult only resort- and if I was going to be away from my kids I wanted to be away from everyone's kids :)
We had a PERFECT trip! It was refreshing for our souls, marriage, minds and bodies to take some time for ourselves!
We left early Monday morning and stopped for our first 'kid free' meal at La Madeline's once we got into Austin. We then checked into our resort and started by laying next to and floating in the infinity pool for a couple hours! This resort was really unique in that it offer experiences or classes all day that you could sign up for of no additional charge. So after a couple hours at the pool we decided to try out some classes. The first one was 'bike pumping.' I only signed up for it because it sounded like something Jeff would like and I had no clue what it was. Well.... it was really hard and you will have to google what it actually is. But I got brownie points from Jeff for going and trying it. Then we took an archery class which was really fun! Of course my stellar husband hit the apple twice while I hit the board behind the target multiple times :) That night we ventured into town to a place called the Oasis which was on Lake Travis. The view was AMAZING and we were there for sunset and it was too pretty for words! That night we crashed early because goodness only knows we haven't slept in 3 years!

The next morning we woke up and took a morning hike- it was super fun! Then Jeff wanted to go work out so I layed on the hammock and relaxed for 30 minutes while he pumped iron. We will soon be investing in a hammock for our backyard! We then made our way to the 'rock-climbing and zipline' class we signed up for. It was SO much fun- the rock climbing was challenging and then the zipline took both of our breaths away- and Liz definitely screamed really loud! We then and ate lunch at the restertaunt on site and it was incredible. They grow all their own fruits and veggies at the resort! After that we went back to the pool for some more R&R before our next class :) The next class we went to was learning how to use a foam roller and release our 'facia.' All I know is that is was really painful and I was sore for at least 3 days after! After that we went to the 'challenge course' that we signed up for. We had a blast on it and got to ride the zipline again at the end! We then went back to the room and cleaned up and decided to treat ourselves to dinner and a movie (which we hadn't done in 3 years.) So we went to Studio Movie Grill and ate dinner while we watched "Deep Water Horizons" and it was great! Man..... we forgot what it was like to be normal people!
Good morning hike- and I only tripped once!

Movie time!
The next morning we signed up for hatchet throwing class at 8:30 that we definitely slept through- opps! We did however get up in time for our farm tour and that was SUPER interesting!!! We learned about how they grow everything organic there and the ins and outs of keeping a chicken coop. We were both starting to miserably miss our kiddos and it was time to check out. So we stopped at a sandwich place for lunch and then headed home so we could be there when they got up from naps. Boy was it amazing to see their smiling faces again!!!!
